TempoCap Strategy Day and Offsite 2024

As part of our continued commitment to TempoCap’s innovation and growth, our team recently travelled to Portugal’s beautiful Silver Coast, north of Lisbon, for a strategy day and offsite trip that was both insightful and rejuvenating. With a mix of strategy sessions and team-building activities, the experience was a refreshing opportunity to align our goals, bond as a team, and recharge our creative energies.

Our trip kicked off with a day of strategic thinking —a deep dive into our track record to date, emerging trends, and the future of technology investing. Surrounded by the stunning Portuguese landscape, we discussed our vision for the next phase of TempoCap’s growth, current and future market opportunities, and our approach to supporting our portfolio companies. The setting gave us space to think broadly, and drove open conversations about our objectives as a fund and what we need to do to stay ahead of the curve.

Key topics of discussion included the acceleration of AI-driven innovation, increasing demand for secondaries and related strategies, and how we can better support companies during these dynamic times. This strategy session was not only productive but also energising, leaving us with fresh ideas and a clear sense of direction moving forward.

Following a day of strategy and planning, the team set sail on a boat trip to the Berlengas islands, a protected natural area, known for its diverse marine life, dramatic cliffs and unique geological formations. The scenic views, tranquil atmosphere and chilly seas provided the perfect backdrop for informal conversations about new opportunities and challenges, both professional and personal. It was a reminder that some of the best ideas often emerge outside the confines of a meeting room! It’s also safe to say none of the team should be seeking a career in E-foil (a surfboard with hydrofoil attached) any time soon!

To wrap up the trip, we swapped spreadsheets for spatulas in a hands-on Portuguese cooking class – after harvesting natural produce from the chef’s garden. The session was a perfect chance to learn about local cuisine, work together, and know who shouldn’t be trusted to host a dinner party.

Our time in Portugal was an invaluable opportunity to reconnect as a team, realign our strategy, and rejuvenate for the busy run into the end of the year. As we head back to the office, we’re already benefitting from the shared experiences and insights gained. With clear goals, a collaborative spirit, and a renewed focus on the future, we are excited to continue supporting technology leaders in Europe and beyond.
